two pppoe-clents over a single wlan interface - possible? -

Fri Aug 07, 2009 1:37 pm

I have:
RB500=r5h>pppoe-server+hotspot

my normal config for customer is:
rb411
customers pppoe:
wlan1(station)>pppoe-client>masqurade>dhcp-server>ether1

I need to setup:
RB11AR=
wlan1(station)>pppoe-client1>masqurade>dhcp-server>ether1 {customers pppoe}
wlan1(station)>pppoe-client2>bridge>wlan2(AP-bridge)>hotspot repeater {hotspot-client}

The hotspot server will be on the RB500 along with the pppoe-server.
the customer will be able to connect to the R5h in the RB500 using either pppoe-client or hotspot interfaces. alternativly they will be able to access the same hotspot and pppoe-server using the repeater (RB400AR)

Remember:
The ether1 cutomers on RB400AR need to be able to plug in and be assigned a dhcp address
The access concentrator (rb500) needs to be able to support other customers pppoe sessions as well - using a virtual AP for 2nd pppoe session is an option
The rb500 needs to be ble to act as a local hotspot
The rb400AR needs to connect to RB500 via pppoe for security and to count customer traffic.

Have tryed everthing i can think of.

Hope the lay out is clear.
thanks for the help.

For anyone interested, this can be done using meta router, is a real nice way of using a CPE as a hotspot repeater while having the cutomer use pppoe and dhcp server

You can run as many pppoe-clients as you want on one interfaces even without metarouters.
Just make sure that you do proper policy routing:

I have not been able to get more than one pppoe-client working at once.

AP:
AP-bridge running wds-mode=dynamic, wds-default-bridge=pppoe-bridge, (pppoe-bridge is just a bridge called pppoe-bridge to get the wds working)

Client:
station with wds on wlan1, bridge with port wlan1, pppoe-client1 on interface=bridge, pppoe-client2 on interface=bridge

ideas?

thanks
