RB 1000 Memory Upgrade

Thu Sep 17, 2009 9:59 pm

Hi,

I've just purchased a RB1000U as an edge router. I'm wondering what type of memory should be used in upgrading it to 2GB. I had noticed someone recommended Kingston non-ecc 677Mhz. Wouldn't you use ECC over NON-ECC for a router? I'm looking for feedback on types of memory and what your experiences are. Also, I read some where that there is a hardware limitation so the RB1000 can only use 1.5gb, is this true?

Thanks so much!

If the router/computer doesn't support ECC RAM then you can not use ECC RAM.

The RB1000 takes one DDR2 667 (PC5300) or faster DDR2 DIMM. Supported modules are 512MB (standard
) 1GB or 2GB (for 1.5MB).

yes, due to the hardware design, it's limited to 1.5GB (out of the plugged in 2GB module)
