2 RB450; 1 RB450G; 6 Providers; Need some advices

Mon Sep 28, 2009 8:30 pm

Hi,

We have set up a small network for my office with configuration, shown on the attached file.
Initially we have only one corporate ADSL modem with fixed IP and 2 ADSL with dynamic IP's.
We set up a BCP bridging (PPP tunnel bridging) between City B, Office1 with City A, Main Office and same between City B, Office2 with City A, Main Office.
But ADSL have low upload bandwidth. Because of this we purchase additional internet access from providers with very fast country traffic and low-level internet traffic.
Now BCP is on broadband and working, internet is by ADSL
The problem is that we cannot figure how to configure automatic fail over when ADSL traffic is down.
When ADSL have no traffic, check_gateway is still OK: 192.168.1.1 responding (every ADSL modem of ours have fixed 192.168.1.1 address on LAN side)
(XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX-ADSL Modem-192.168.1.1)-("ADSL" interface on routerboard)
The same thing is with broadband connection - when internet traffic exceeded, check_gateway still have ping, but we have no internet (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX directly on "OptiWAN" interface on routerboard)
Any help will be appreciated.

did u try with scripts? because with ping test, its not necesary going to foll down if the adsl doesnt response anymore or even the router of ur provider so, u have to designe another way to do that.
