RB750G flash format

Wed Jan 13, 2010 12:37 pm

Hi. I'm new to mikrotik world. I have recently bought a RB750G and i'm very satisfied with it. Also i have read alot of articles but one got my attention. I understand that, in time, flash memory develops bad blocks. Mine has 1 from the begining but i have nothing to worry about yet. I wanted to ask just in case if there is any possibility to format flash memory.
Thanks for your time.

Yes, it is possible to format NAND, it is possible from RouterBOARD "BIOS". There is no reason to do it, when RouterBOARD is working fine.

Ok guys thanks for your answer. Let's get this straight : again i'm not worried about flash memory failure. I'm wondering if format is possible on rb750g or not.
Regards

yes, using two options:

1. format from Bootloader menu
2. format via Netinstall RouterOS installator tool

Thank you normis. My guess is that netinstall is the only option because i don't know if i can access bootloader on a device that don't have a serial port. I didn't saw the option on netinstall until now. Next time i promise to pay more attention :)

netinstall doesn't have a separate format option. simply doing RouterOS installation with it will format and then install. it's built into the standard process.
