RB 450G and Sandisk microSD

Mon May 24, 2010 10:00 am

Hi,

I've installed yesterday a microSD card (SDSDQY-8192-E11M, Sandisk Mobile Ultra microSD 8GB).
But after nightly reboot the card has disappeared and although I reboot mikrotik several times, it is still unrecognized...

I am using RB450G with ROS4.9, Bootloader 2.26.

Did anyone has expirience with running WebProxy on such a configuration? I want to have a proxy for about 150 users. Is it possible?

Thanks for help in advance!

BR,

comec!

Use a x86 dual core with a decent new HDD of about 200 GB +. Or more than one machine for proxies.

Dont hold me to this, but i have herd in the past that devices suck as SD cards and jump drives can only handle so many read writes. If that is so. that could be the issue at hand

"Another limitation is that flash memory has a finite number of erase-write cycles. Most commercially available flash products are guaranteed to withstand around 100,000 write-erase cycles, before the wear begins to deteriorate the integrity of the storage"

Not sure how many cycles your proxy is doing but i know with my test on some OS on these cards. They dont usually last long.

Thanks for hints.
I think I will not use Mikrotik WebProxy as a proxy for such a number of users.

Anyway, I am still wondering why my brand new SD Card has worked at first, and after one night it can't be recognized anymore...
Any experience with SanDisk SD cards?

Thx

Maybe you could try to touch the card, to slide it a bit forward or a bit back or something. Could be a slot contacts problem.
