RB750G bad series?

Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:52 am

We ordered few dozens of RB750G and have lots of problems with it. Some of them just die after some time (they power up, but eth ports are dead). Some of them signalize that ethx port is active and there is no cable plugged in. They do not respond? Anyone had simmilar isues with RB750G?

I had ordered four of them from a distributor here in Canada, and out of the four, one died within two days, powered on, but no sign of Ethernet ports activating at all. I am still waiting on my RMA for that one.

We've had a number of 750 routers fail in various ways, (I think it was usually ethernet port problems), enough that we're avoiding them now, I don't have the details off hand, or whether they were all G models or not.

I have used a large number of 750G's and so far have had no issues, I always buy them with the Mikrotik "High Power" PSU, the 24volt one, maybe it's the cheap PSU's you are using causing the issues ?

We are using the PSU provided with the routerboard. We sold few hundreds of both 750 and 750G and had no problems with them. Only the last shippment seams to be problematic...

Send a list of affected Serial Numbers to Support and we will see if there is anything different about them.

My boss will contact Mikrotik support these days.

Another one came today, 750G - when plugged in, eth1 led lights normal, eth 4 and 5 leds light week. Not visible via winbox. The board is extremly hot. :(

No, because I send my router back to supplier.
I would like to know how things are for those who faced a similar problem.

I bought 15 of them, 4 has the same problem, ether 3 and 4 on, other all lights on, this is incredible, I actually sent an email to support, i got an automatic response, it says i have to send supout.rif or i wont be able to get a ticket, this is funny, how can i do it if i cant enter to the equipment ? My reseller send me to talk to Mikrotik, Mikrotik send to talk to my reseller, is this the way Mikrotik help its customers ?

Some of them just die after some time (they power up, but eth ports are dead).
Actually i have the same problem with RB750G, using it about 11 months here in Latvia (MT native country). The only answer from MT support is - you must contact reseller (insolvent e-shop company).

May be, just share some experience, all our mikrotik product is bought from them directly.
Currently we have deploy ore then 400 unit's routerboard on air, we just facing a little issue with it and when ask help, they support is good as well.

For the RB750, we have been use few ten unit, so far, all is working fine. is possible, why not buy it direct from mikrotik?

Did you contact seller? when your TV needs repair, you contact Sony Japan, or Elkor Latvia (seller)?

in that case contact Mikrotik, there is no problem with that. Just this time, use normal word like "bankrupt, closed, non-existing, dead" :P

LOL just an observation - so many users that post for the first time in this topic, looks kinda strange if several users logs for the first time just to add posts to this one topic. :) Do they have same IP address i wonder?

Except some capacitor problem on very first RB750G i had no problem with those what so ever.

When my tv is broken i contact service center given in warranty ticket. In that case i do not have any warranty ticket. I have many years experence with MT products ad had a job where we used to buy routerboards, antennas and mini-pci cards directly from MT and never have problems with faulty devices (and here was a lot of faulty devices :D) - they was always replaced. So where i can now repair a faulty device that must have a warranty? From my previous experience with other faulty electronics - service center. Where is MT service center - from my previous experience with MT devices it's on Pernavas str. 46, Riga. So what i can think from answer:"contact reseller..."?

P.S.
i'd never have an ubiquiti or alvarion device that simply died after reboot from management console :D

I don't understand. Why don't you have warranty sheet? Where did you buy, from Mikrotik or from e-shop, like you said before?

If you bought from mikrotik directly, you must contact mikrotik directly. Email support about fixing a broken device, very simple.

Nevermind... that device was for my home usage but with very complex configuration that is not possible with other this price category device (hotspot with radius, vlans, l7 filtering, several DHCP pools, etc.). It's my fault that i don't have a warranty ticket given by e-shop and i hang up with hope to replace this device. Now i'm thinking about mini-itx system with RouterOS. Regret that RB750G turned out to be so weak.

just because you may have received a "dud" doesn't mean the entire series has something wrong with it. Myself with, am am sure, many others a have used the RB750G and not had any issues.

I have ordered quite a few of this line and we had problems from some units as well. Just the usual, some just die after a few days and the signal that there is something plugged in though there is none. I have tried using the specified power supply units and replaced the ones you can buy for a cheap price. But i can not still come up with a generalization that it has solved the problem.

I have to ask. Is there any difference in quality of manufacturing devices for EU, USA, S. America, East Europe Balkan and Africa, Asia and Australia?

all devices we sell are manufactured in the same factories, they are not sorted by region of sales.
