Recommendations for a PPPoE board

Mon Nov 08, 2010 2:55 am

Hi All,
We have just had a successful trial of an ADSL solution using 2 x 48 Port ADSL2+ DSLAM’s, a RB493, and a Linux FreeRadius AAA server (running Radius manager).
The RB493 used in the trial is a spare for our Campus Wireless & so we need to purchase another RouterBoard.
So my question is what everyone would recommend?
Max PPPoE clients will be 96, throughput will be 28Mb max, requires three Ethernet (1 x Management VLAN, 1 x Public Int VLAN, and 1 x ADSL clients VLAN), 1 firewall rule to allow masquerade.
I've been thinking the RB450G maybe?
Cheers
Steve

Intel Atom mainboard and 4-port lan card plus minipci-x wireless will get you with some spare power in case of an upgrade. But RB450G is not a bad choice either.

Thanks for your input :D
Would everyone agree that the 450G can handle 96 simultaneous PPPoE client sessions?

So maybe I'd be better off with the RB1000U?

RB1000 is discontinued.
