Can we get a status update on the Groove please. What is the estimated timescale on this product and will it have a similar price model to the Ubiquiti Bullet.

Thanks

There was mention of a RB750 with PoE out. RB75UP or RB750P, I've seen different references to this product.

When can we expect it?

Now for the big question: Will the RJ45 connectors be shielded, or will they be unshielded as in the picture?

You want that kind of router from Mikrotik with cost 6k ? :)
Are sure that you will buy Mikrotik router capable of 100g which will cost 1 million or even more? You will not!! So stop complaining and use MT equipment where it’s suitable.
Mikrotik is perfect solution for small ISPs or any size WISP, they are also gaining share in enterprise market. I have customers with 300 RB/750Gs used for branch offices, it’s perfect for this purpose.

$6K? Seems like a good deal for a 10x 10GigE router. $1m is excessive for that other router.

I'm glad MT does what they do, but a lot of WISPs are putting on their big boy pants. At that point someone has to go to Cisco or Juniper.

Hi, i just found a new Mikrotik product. Its the RG/750GL

Here is the link: http://shop.meconet.de/artikeldet.php?p ... tub3mefaa1

Is this a replacement for the RB750G? How is the performance? IT has double RAM but only 400MHz CPU for the same price.

RB750G was removed from http://routerboard.com/
So it looks that 750GL is replacement for 750G.
Slower CPU but more memory and additional powered USB port.
IMHO ideal product for SOHO market.

So why USB port is visible on photo on routerboard.com and is also mentioned in Quick User Guide?

Please, don't make people fool :D and fix documentation.
BTW, with USB this RB will be much better.

Hello

I have some questions about RB751U and RB751G
(i viewed http://www.mikrotik.com/download/share/generic.pdf)
BUT
do you can write what difference between RB751U and RB751G
and also do you can describe more detailed hardware characteristics for RB751U and RB751G
(processors, memory, wifi chip and other ?)

Another question - USB port can be used as backup 3g wan link (for 3g usb modem) ?
And do you plane in future make new version RB751G + build-in 3G modem as one of WAN interface(WAN 1 - Gb Ethr POE, WAN 2 - 3G ) -it would be great!

I think that is a safe bet.

I am told that this one might possibly make it out this month (June). The other Atheros based new products July or August.

Late this year on both RB1100AH and RB1100AHx2. More shortages at Freescale. Remember the RB1100 delays? Be happy that the RB1200 PPC comes from a different source.

So the best RB solution for a Level 6 licensed rackmount with flash storage allowance at this time is the RB1100?

I think you are correct there.

The RB1100 has a microSD slot. The RB1200 does not. Both do have onboard flash so it depends what you mean by flash storage.

There are also MFM third party rack mount solutions using RB450G and RB493G routerboards and both of these have microSD flash slots. The RB493G also has a USB socket. Both come with Level 5 licenses.

Hmm, I think I'll wait ... Is a L6 license transferable if purchased seperately?

I have an RB450G and an ESXi server, I could load a RouterOS VM and install the L6 License and use it for my needs, then when the RB1100AHx2 comes out, I would not have need for the VM, so it would be nice to transfer the purchased L6 to the RB450G.

Also if I have 1 RouterOS VM active, and 1 cold backup, could I utilize the same license as long as I don't have both up and running at the same time, or would I still need 2 licenses?

Yes, MicroSD is what I was referring to, I was thinking about utilization of Web Caching and Metarouter.

Licenses cannot be transferred around. They stay with the device that they are installed on. However, you can move an x86 license to another x86 box by moving the hard drive, or flash drive that it was installed on. That is one of the reasons to install an license on a reliable medium like flash drive.

I'm not a big fan of web caching on flash SD drives. I think hard drives make a better solution right now.

You do not want the RB751G specifically because it has 400mhz and 23/64mb ram? That has nothing to do with minipci and usb. The RB751G has usb. It doesn't have minipci, but it has a powerful 802.11n radio built in.

I'd like to buy few of them to a school as hotspot nodes before next school year starts (september) - will it be available or should I look for something else? I hope RB751 will be cheaper than RB411 + wireless card + other necessary accessories :)

At a guess, I would say that it is because Mikrotik operates in a competitive market and do not want their competitors to find out about future products before they are in production.

it's not our picture, and we don't have such product at the moment. it's photoshopped, so somebody is playing a joke on you.

I'm not denying that we will make something like this in the future, but the product you are posting all the time - it's fake.

In that case, I apologize. But it was presented in one Czech ISPs store.
Dual RB711 would be really useful. When SXT produce it would not be a problem ...

On that subject, is there any update on when the 751U will be available?

The last official word from mikrotik was "April"

I am extremely interested in the RB2011.
  • Any idea on the release date?
  • What L2MTU can be expected?
  • What throughputs/performance can be expected?
  • Will it have OAM capabilities?
  • Will there be a non wireless version?

RB750UP was promised for May shipping, right? There have been no updates from MT in the last two months. Are we talking August, September?

I hate the idea of putting more money into Tycon Power switches to light up additional sites. But I need to be doing this in the summer with full foliage.

Can Mikrotik please give some semblance of when this product will ship?

I hoped to see the SXT 20dB antenna in list.
It would be perfect! sigh :(
Yes a higher dbi antenna would be nicer.

will be in the future something like this?
[*]2 or more Gbit ethernet interface with at least 1526 byte L2MTU
[*]1 minipci port (or 1 integrated 802.11n MiMo radio module normal or H version)
[*]no moving part (so no fan)
[*]around $200 price
We thinks that this is what a professional wisp need to have today to provide a good internet service to it's customers...

Will be also a fiber version?... no I don't wan't ask too much! ;-)

Good work!

750UP

Thu Jul 21, 2011 11:48 pm

I sure hope you guys make it by August for the RB/750UP. A couple questions if you can answer them Normis (or whoever):

- Will it have the 400mhz processor speed, or the faster RB750G-style processor?
- Will it have a higher temperature rating like the RB750GL?
- Will it have a 30V DC tolerance, or just 28V?

thanks!

Randy

RB750UP will have 400MHz CPU
It will work with 28V PSU, as that is not max limit.

Will it work above 28v then, which we often need in solar sites?

This RB750UP should have DC block input terminal.

Running a long cable going to POE IN and supplying the other port (POE out) would strain the solid AWG24. Its cheaper to run a single cable from your room to the roof and short cable connected to ether2 to ether5 to power any POE device.

Can it be sold without the Adaptor?? :)

I prefer putting the DC source near that RB.

about what voltage you are talking about? If you are powering 7series or 4 series RouterBOARD from that solar panel, RB750GL will definitely work.

And i can answer only some technical details, as i have no information about how they are going to be sold and what package will include.

will RB750UP metal connectors for ESD shielding? To put to use shielded cable cat5e.

Currently you have no protection against surges Ethernet ports. Very bad.

Ubiquiti client currently supplies kit that is protected against ESD. SXT gets plastic POE. What?

+1.

I feel your pain.

To add insult to injury, when we compare performance of SXT with UBNT Nano M5 or UBNT AirGrid we see the UBNT kill the routerboard every time with it comes to throughput. My new pops look like the attachment. RB for connecting to existing MT backbone, RB750 for running hotspot etc, but UBNT rockets facing the customers.

It breaks my heart doing this, but I'd rather be broken hearted with money in the bank than have a happy heart and no customers.

eben, what? it's common knowledge that mikrotik nv2 outperforms ubnt devices by a good margin, even the AFMUG Backhaul Bakeoff proved that: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r253380 ... E~start=20
Results are on page 9 and 12 of the PowerPoint slide pack. Roughly double the performance of a Rocket.

and ESD? will ever be supported by you? I have to buy another one bracket, and other PoE to SXT. That's a lot more money on. The first time a storm damaged the RB.

It's time you guys have a MUM in Cape Town so that people like Eugenevdm and I can take you into real world scenarios and show you how the products perform "in the wild".

most of our products have 12-16kV ESD protection on both ethernet and RF ports.

rzirzi

You must use shielded cable. UBNT Toughcable is really good stuff.

The next thing that you must do is to take the shield / ground on the shielded cable to ground. If you are using UBNT PoE injectors (and the building has been correctly earthed) and properly terminated shielded cable, this is easy. However, if you are using MikroTik or TPLink PoE injectors, it's not that simple.

We solder an earth wire onto the shield on the PoE injector that we then take to ground ie to an earth point.
IMG_2854 (Medium).JPG
In this specific case, shielded cable will run from the PoE injectors to the client facing equipment while there's UTP inside the case. The RB750 doesn't have shielded connectors, so it's actually pointless running shielded cable those last couple of cm.

... a direct strike will destroy the device...
Two rules that I follow:

1. If it gets struck by ligthning - even if it's still working - ewaste and replace.
2. If it's been burned in a fire - even if it's still working - ewaste and replace.

We suffer from the same problem where ethernet ports fry after storms, recently down under we've had 6 units fry their Ethernet and this is professionally installed and grounded :) Not from direct strikes but from strikes within a couple of km's from the CPE

I'm not buying them. People buy them, and they could stop you know? You can eat bread with butter and ham or only with butter. As easy as that.
RB711 is one of our most successful products, and we sell it worldwide in very large numbers.

If you do have any issues, please contact support and we will try to help you in your specific case.
