RouterBOARD Feature Request

Fri Apr 15, 2011 3:25 am

In my opinion Rack-mount RouterBOARDS lack modularity.

I would like to see an RB1100 or RB1200 with two expansion slots.

Mikrotik could create expansion cards (like cisco wic,hwic,etc...), that would give us the ability to expand these devices.

Imagine one expansion card with mpci-x and sim card reader for 3G.

Another expansion card could be 2 SFP slots.

Another expansion card could be USB ports.

Another expansion card could be 1 mpci for wifi.

There are so many possibility's with these expansion slots...

I created a poll just to see if this is really useful for all of us, and maybe Mikrotik will listen to our requests :)

Best regards,

It makes sense to me that MikroTik would look at adding SFP ports and similar to the RB1XXX range sometime down the track, however not before they've deployed the new device and ensured it's a viable/working option.
