Installing Wireless Card on 411AH

Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:22 am

I'm attempting to install a wireless card in a routerboard 411ah (it is a compatible Atheros chipset), but I am having trouble with it being detected. The first several times I booted the board, nothing was listed under the PCI tab of Resources in RouterOS. Then one time it magically showed up on the PCI tab of Resources and was listed as an available interface, but while I was configuring the interface, I received a kernel panic and it the board rebooted. Since then I haven't been able to get it to be detected.

I have tried reseating the Mini-PCI card several times and have even tried a different Mini-PCI card (this one has also never been detected within RouterOS, but was working fine on a different routerboard)

Does anyone have any ideas why this Mini-PCI card has only been recognized once?

Firstly it would be great to get any information about card (manufacturer, model name, etc.).
Have you tried different wireless card in the RouterBOARD411AH?

The card I'm trying to install is an Alfa Networks AWPCI085G. Like I said, the card was mysteriously detected one time and appeared to be working.
I did try another card, a card that is operational in another 411AH board, and that didn't detect on this 411AH either.

According to technical specification, this card has max. transmitting power 2000mW  .
IMHO there is a problem with PSU (must be really powerful) or this card destroyed your RB411AH
due to high current taken by this card.

Have you tried Alfa card in other "operation 411AH"?
Try any regular card any R52 model in your RB411AH. Let us know if it works.
