RB1000 - DOA need help

Fri Sep 30, 2011 8:04 am

Hi guys,
Just wondering if someone can help here. I have a RB1000, no respond when plugged in, just blue light, no beep nothing else. Tried new RAM, no improvement.
Can't do netinstall, no respond with hyperterminal.

Actually this unit was DOS (Dead on Arrival) since a while ago, being sent back to Mikrotik returned with no fixes twice (actually replaced with new unit with the same problem).
We have contacted our supplier with no result, finally ended up supplier fed up with our complains as well as mikrotik support (via email) and sitting in the box idle. The unit is way out of warranty.

Any advice?

Thanks

are you really sure that you are using it correctly? somehow I find it hard to believe, you got the unit replaced twice, and still have the same issue

please tell me the serial number, I will check what was the conclusion from RMA

the first DOA unit is:

S/N: 195B01FD2A6B/840
MAC: 00:0C:42:20:72:DC - DF
This one had worked for 8 months, then it was returned to RMA, the found damage was physical, damaged PCB board near the CPU. It was not DOA!

just fyi, we've given up with this particular supplier, it's all regarding RMA and SHIPMENT problems.

I just brought this up thought there might be someone who has the exact same problem, although it's awhile ago.

this has the same problem, looks like heat damage on the PCB. it may be that your devices are not cooled enough, are they in a hot server closet maybe?

YES! I paid for new units @ full price!

All other RB1000u units working fine, I still got one unit for own use up and running without problem.

According to RMA rules, you need to contact the seller. They are the ones who sold you malfunctioning units.

i really hope this particular 'seller' had a chance flipping thru this topic.
we're sick of contacting them already.

Hi Normis,
Would it be possible to send this unit back to MT to get it fixed?
Will pay for it, rather than having a new RB1000 sitting here doing nothing...

Cheers..
