Which routerboard to use?

Wed Oct 26, 2011 7:11 am

Hello all,

I am considering using either a RB-750GL or RB450G in a hotel setting.

The router must be able to support 50-60 users concurrently at peak times without bogging down.

It is obvious from the specs that the 450G would be better, but the price of the 750GL is very appealing as I will be using 6 of the routers.

So the question would be, in a scenario where up to 60 users would be using the (wi-fi) network concurrently, and assuming that sufficient bandwidth was available and also that most of the 60 users would be doing less bandwidth intensive stuff like check email or just surfing the web, would the 750GL be able to handle the load without a problem?

Or neither of these is good enough?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Harry.

Get a 450G. It has a serial port. Serial ports are awesome for recovering devices otherwise screwed up. This is very important for devices that are relied upon for business. The price difference is absolutely negligible compared to the price of what you're going to be paying your ISP in the course of a year. Don't skimp on negligible amounts.
