Routerboard 750GL - how to setup as a switch olny with VLAN

Tue Dec 27, 2011 5:47 pm

HI i`m trying to setup this device to work as switch only (i need 5 switch ports).
Could you tell me how i should modyife standard configuration in order to achive this?
I would like port 1 and 5 - would have connection with any other ports, an rest of ports
only with port 1...

Suggestion appreciated :)

By the way i still have problems with connection... sometimes i can`t log in, another time
connection is dropping after few minutes. By what it can be caused?

Thanks

how that is connected to VLANs?

Anyway, if you set up switching on router (not RB250GS) then RouterOS will terminate the VLAN, so you will have to have same VLAN on all switch ports or if all of them are terminated in RouterOS, then users on swtiched ports being in different VLANs should not be able to communicate between themselves, and that negates the need for them to be in the switch in the first place. RB250GS could handle different VLANs on different switch ports as it is smart switch.

Check settings in "/interface ethernet switch" to see if there is an option to set all ports switched and if it has any impact on the configuration.
