equivalent or similiar tool of ...

Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:27 am

i have my first OMNITIK and SXT today  . i mostly use ubnt wireless product, which i believe is good enough, it has the tool we need. mikrotik has the feature which ubnt wireless product don't though, virtual AP, encrypted WDS slave network, and more.

anyway, i'm looking for similiar tool of AirView from ubnt, it doesn't have to be exactly same, but at least we can use the tool to find a clear channel on the air. so is there any?

thank you.

RouterOS has built in a few such tools. There is Snooper (click on Wireless interface in Winbox, and there will be a Snooper button)

and Spectral Scan:

Spectral Scan is also available in The Dude:

cool 8) ! can't wait to test that. doing it right away now, thank you.

EDIT:
by the way. i have this client, currently on point-to-point 2 nanostation M5 facing each-other. when i use the nanostation from client to do site survey, it seems the signal from omnitik a lot lower than the nanostation AP gives. the omnitik is placed about 20cm higher from the nanostation AP on the same pole. i get signal strength -77dBm from the nanostation AP, and -85dBm from the omnitik. is this normal? or maybe i missed some settings on the omnitik? Tx Power Mode is set to Card rates and 26dBm, i believe that is the maximum it could transmit?

thanks again

the SXT is running well and connected to an OMNITIK AP with great result because of short distance

i'm still curious about the nanostation M5 signal though.

NSM5 has a higher gain antenna than OmniTik, NS has a directional antenna, while OmniTik has an omni (hence the name).
