Yes, because ubiquti actively working in this direction. Especially at 24 GHz.
I want solutions from mikrotik, mikrotik because I like it.

+1 from
Also, more integrated devices like sector antennas (with plastic and metal case), higher gain sxt, sxt with better shilding etc...

Something like AirFiber @24GHz would be nice.

We don't have any products in this range, but you could look at upconverters such as this: http://pojitko.cz/index.php/mikrovlnne-spoje
A few customers are using them with success

With this new feature in RouterOS (you need a license upgrade for it), you can make custom channel width, as your equipment needs, for example 28MHz: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Wi ... d_Channels

And will it go 1.4Gbps ? AirFiber is not only about 24GHz frequency....

Hi. AirFiber is regular radio, it is no more 802.11 based. It is completely new discipline.
But as it was said by Normis, we do upconvertors for 802.11N. We do orient now more toward Mikrotik, as their HW got finally higher and better level then UBNT and we rearmed for RB which we are getting much more better results.
By now we provide SRD radios based on RB751G and 711UA which are great. We do now radios with 20dB and 30dB antennas.
With 30Bb anennas we do some 4 km ptp with full speed of 220Mbit in 40MHz channel, but it is more limited with CPU, because another way we would get some 245Mbit :) So.. Normis.. Once you will have some platform with Gbit eth and CPU with multiple 7XX power... we are going to push thru 450Mbit of net thruput instantly.
On January we started serial production and we served UBNT hardware initialy, but now we see much more pogress and profesionality by Mikrotik HW.

Anyway we are looking forward to upconvert what ever signal. 802.11ac would be nice..

AirFiber is an FPGA based radio, nothing like the low cost 802.11 based stuff (from both Mikrotik and UBNT) built with off the shelf Atheros chips and whatnot. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you can see it in the price difference of using pre-engineered stuff vs. making something in house. There's only so much you can do with the pre-engineered stuff. That's why UBNT's GPS radios are mostly a no-go right now, too many limitations with Atheros chips.

Insider - do you have plans for converting to 24GHz? Because in Slovakia 10GHz is not license-free.

Hi, I am not ready to talk about plans anymore. Once there are too many ears and eyes around, we will release product information only once ready and on stock.
9GHz should be Ok with your offcom it is legal SRD harmonized band in EU.

An FPGA is a logic device not applicable to radio communications directly.
A DSP on the other hand could be applicable.

24Ghz frequency isn't very much great. after reading some articles and posts on UBNT forum, it appears that 24Ghz frequency is very vulnerable to signal disruption. a little rain could disrupt the signal

With 17Ghz can I ask users what experience they have had and what is maximum usable distance at 17GHz

This is a funciton of the physics of the link, not the actual equipment. At the unlicensed 24 GHz, you are limited by things like Tx Power allowed in your region, rain fade, fog, sandstorms, etc. You need to have proper backup links in place for these events. However, the capacity in combination with the cleaner spectrum make it very desirable for <5 mi links with absolute clear LOS.

I have one 24 GHz link in deployment (~2.1 mi) and it hasn't dropped yet, and it moves around 655 Mb/s of data full duplex with ~2ms latency at full load. Our other 24 GHz link is ~4.5 mi and we are still testing it so I can't comment on longer distances.

10 GHz and 17 GHz would be better for range, but most of the time anything that you need long distance, high gauranteed capacity and low latency requires the use of licensed equipment so you can get past low allowed Tx Power, and EIRP limits.

For example the AirFiber you were reading about has a TX power of 0, a Tx Antenna gain of 33 dB, and and a Rx Antenna gain of 39 dB.

I personally really like the RouterOS platform, but Mikrotik needs to make sure they don't jump onto the wrong bandwagon. Stay in the market you understand, can compete in, and make money in. There are already tons of names building reliable PtP links at the frequencies mentioned, not sure if Mikrotik would be able to compete and still make money.

Cheers

Hello all,
we have integrated up/down converter 17GHz TDD device based on 2GHz MIMO radio with RB435G routerboard.
We have presented our device at the last MUM in Croatia: http://mum.mikrotik.com/presentations/HR13/andrea.pdf
and we have plans to release same device on 24 and 26GHz band.
Now we are deploying in Italy and other countries with incredible results.
Look at the attached test screenshot.
We got full 300/300Mbit radio at 17km distance, equal to 100Mbps fd band.
0 packet lost
4ms average ping .

The advantage vs the FDD device are:
-better modulation with the MCS scaling down to the 6Mbps of the 802.11g protocol
-more channels on the 200Mhz available bandwidth,
-custom channel to adjust the bandwidth to your request
-RouterOs

disadvantage:
-of course we use only 1 channel, in TDD
-latency higher than FDD

We will test it with RB911 to see how works the new processor with big MTU .
other test will be published later.
regards
Andrea

Hi, I m looking for this solution for using other bands, do we have to buy some special hardware and, also, which license level we have to acquire? We have a link with netmetal5, can we use this license with this equipment?

But many telco use 21GHz and 23GHz for data transmission. personally i work for a telco and currently our all sdh and pdh links runs at 23GHz. to heavy rain obviously ruin links but we use ring protections or 1+1 protections in our critical links.
