I want a Mikrotik Indoor AP.

Tue Apr 03, 2012 2:39 pm

Hi

I would love to se mikrotik devoelep a product that looks like this.

Image

An indoor 2,4GHz AP
Wall mounted
one ethernet port whit poe
Wireless N whit two antennas

The market would be indoor wireless sites whit several of these runs in a mesh or WDS.

Closed hardware that mikrotik has now is the rb751 that is a little bit of overkill.

Why is the RB751 overkill? This could easily be made with the RB711UA-2HnD.

I don't like the antennas on the 751, feels like two separable omni antennas does the work better.
To many ports, dont want any student to mess whit the stuff. even that I cant disable them they will be their and mess whit it.

But mikrotik can do a devise like 751 but whit two omni antennas and only one ethernet port.

then they can develop a rb1000UP whit 10 ports or something do mange and power the new indoor ap ;)

That's what the RB711UA-2HnD is. It is a 700 series board with 1 ethernet port and 1 wireless card. You just put it in your own case with antennas. It is very easy.

We just used this equipment and did the same exact thing for an outdoor AP.

Exactly, If we put Those items together we get what I want.

But would be more nice if mikrotik made a more out of the box product :)

Iam thinking the market would be whit a rb1000UP and 10 APs would be companies, school, public areas etc.

Easy to setup and easy to deploy.
