RB433AH not always starting

Tue Apr 17, 2012 7:40 pm

hello i have an RB433AH board and i have installed it on one of our towers. When i provide the POE voltage not everytime it starts, meaning that ethernet board is not reachable. The only thing to do is restart it by unplugging the power until it's visible over the network. It's running version 5.14.
Is there anyone who could give me any suggestion on how to fix this?

thanks in advance

How long is your cable run and how many wireless cards do you have on the board?

What voltage do you use from power source? My experience is that less than 18V can by problematic in case short UTP is used. For sure I use 24V/2A for these boards and good quality POE (sometimes was problem in JACK on POE board and I must cut the wire from power source and solder it directly to the POE).

I have only 1 wireless card (R52Hn) and the cable should be around 25 meters.

Voltage from power source is 24 V (nominal) and the routerboard voltage monitor reports 25.2 V, so it doesn't seem to be an issue.
I'm wondering if there is some incompability with speed negotiation against the switch the unit is connected to.
I'm using a Netgear JFS 516 10/100 Mbit/s.

Actually the unit always start up , the leds are blinking and then on, it's just not reachable through its network port (wired).

thanks for any suggestion
