RB450G Throughput/BTest problem

Sat Apr 28, 2012 5:18 pm

Link Setup

RB450G#1 <-> NanobridgeM5 ptp #1 <-> RB493AH <-> NanobridgeM5 ptp #2 <-> RB450G#2 <-> NanobridgeM5 ptp #3 <-> RB1100AHx2 <-> 100Mbps Fiber

BTest from RB450G#1 to RB493AH up to 50Mbps no problem... can go higher but latency starts to increase and CPU's Max out.

BTest from RB493 to RB450G #1 or to RB100AHx2 Maximum for ALL Btest traffic = ~12Mbps.

BTest from RB450G#2 to either 493AH or to RB100AHx2 = maximum ~12Mbps.

All the RB's are configured as 2 port Bridge with NanobridgeM5 on Each side in bridge as well. No Connection tracking. No Firewall. No Queuing. No QOS. No NAT. IP address for each RB is on the Bridge "interface". These links are 1 to 2 miles each. Clear Fresnel on all Links - CCQ = ~98% for all. 40Mhz channels no frequency overlap. Signals ~-55 or better. All Ethernet ports are set for 100Mbps FD with autonegotiation enabled (Maybe this is bad?)

Testing Between ANY PtP _PAIR_ of Nano's = 70x70 Mbps or better so I know my PtP's have the capacity. INCLUDING PtP#3!

BTest from RB450G#2 to OR from any other RB in the network can only manage ~12Mbps. CPU is never more than ~50%.

If I try multiple BTests from multiple RB's the maximum aggregate for all of them is ~12Mbps!!! The maximum capacity of this link with user traffic seems to be ~33Mpbs!

So it looks like RB450G#2 is the problem. It is running 4.14. All other RB's on this link are 5.9 (edit: the RB1100AHx2 is running 5.15). But I have the exact same setup at the other end of the network (edit: except they are all RB50G's) with the same versions on each and it can do ~50Mbps on BTest.

Several months ago RB450G#2 was configured with Queuetree and maximum Speed was setup for 40Mbps. But queuetree has been deleted months ago and the router power cycled more than once since then - could there still be a queuetree present even though it was removed (unlikey?)

Could it be a problem with the Ethernet port(s) on RB450G#2 ? Seems like that might limit it to ~30Mbps ? But if so then why can't the BTest EVER get above ~12Mbps total even when the link is empty ?

Any other ideas ? :-(

Thx
