Two APs at the same Antenna

Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:18 pm

Hello
Some antennas have horizontal and vector connections. Can I use one connection, for example horizontal, as an independent Access Point (i.e. send and receive) and at the same time another connection (vertical) as an independent AP? Not one for sent and other for receive (not MIMO), i. e. Making two APs at the same sector or dish which support MIMO.

Thank you very much
Regards

Odp: Two APs at the same Antenna

It's possible, but you will probably need to use two radios - each working in single chain instead one 2x2 radio. I don't know how it works because i haven't tried, but there are dualband sectors on the market which make it a common aproach.
On the other hand you may want to look into VirtualAp functionality under wireless interfaces to achieve your goal.

In theory you can. But so it happens that in such setup crosspolarization isolation matters even more. You'll have to ensure high enough channel sepparation anyway. Also, as mentioned above, you will need two separate radios.
