RB-112 ethernet problem

Wed Jul 04, 2012 4:05 pm

I had a rb112 that i didn't use in a while working on routeros 2.9.51
The problem i encountered is that the ether port works randomly
After plugging the Ethernet cable, when i plug the power jack sometimes it works properly and some other times only the green light on the ether port is on and the ether port doesn't work
So i have to make random number of reboots until it works
Same problem happens if i unplug the ether cable and i replug it

When the ether port boots correctly the routerboard works just fine

Either the 112 is bad, or the cable is bad, or the device on the other end is bad

The cable and the device on the other side are good
The problem is with the rb-112 ether port
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but the wireless never stopped working

I read in a thread that a rooterboot update could solve the problem, what do you think??

It shouldn't hurt to try, if there is an update available. But, with hardware that old, it may just be time to retire it.
