Hello,Hello.
I use RB751G-2HnD (6.13)
I plug USB WiFi WN722N(chipset AR9271)
Make restart.
It appears in reosurces->USB as 1:2 ATHEROS USB2.0 WLAN 12345 480Mbps.
But there is no interface in wlan interfaces (Just standart wlan0 for builtin wlan).
Please help me.
Thanks a lot!
Is there any news on that?!Hello.

Seriously?MikroTik not support WLAN over USB

To let you know, the last supported ROS version for the USB-Wifi is 5.17Exactly this is confusing me.Seriously?MikroTik not support WLAN over USB

I've bought an adapter (WN722N), and despite the wiki says that it is supported, it is not working. The behaviour is the same as in the 1st post.
According internet resources, this chipset (AR9271) used to be working although on 54g mode in versions of ROS below 6.0.
Any newer version is not supporting this usb device anymore.
Why MT drop this devices, since thyey are cheap, and used to work in some manner?
which package contains the usb support drivers?
Is it possible to downgrade only that package?
That way I should be able to backport the usb support.
MT should take into consideration the fact that usb wifi dongles ususaly are much cheaper than the minipci, and could be more versatile (using on laptos, desktops if neccesarry).
Even being not so reliable, it is the users' choice to try it out. After all there're a lot minipci cards, that are as much problematic as this one-and-only usb chipset 9271.
Normunds,
say something for christ's sake!

What routerboard do you use? rb751G-2HnD?Is there any news on that?!
Can MT support WN722N(chipset AR9271)?
Would be nice to use that thing, surely would reise the hype for USB enabled RBs.
Please, answer if this dream can come true.
Or not......
I,ve already ordered WN722N, if it is not going to be supported, I'll send it as a gift to MT's team

WN722N are not listed and on 6.x version some drivers are removed... (check forum posts about this...)

What ROS do you use? Latest 6.15 with latest routerboot? If not, upgrade!
See tplink usb-wifi wn722N work in routerboard with ROS
This can rally be, because MikroTik is only supporting the entire "Atheros chip set"It's strange that the system detects the usb device, but can not use it as an interface!
Edit the first post in this thread and then click the angle under the subject and safe this again. You should be just right, but there are a lot of obvious records in the Web that wn722n used to work on RB like mine.
How to mark it as a support call?

Another problem occured:does the USB power reset imitates ejecting and pluging in the usb device?
Is it possible to make a script which to reset the USB power in case of ping loss?
So far I can not see any problems with WN722N, but I'm asking in case of a reset precausions
Do not develop any USB driver, simply AR9271 is already one driver supported...Why actually MT decided to develop USB drivers only for the AR9271
Does that mean that the ar9271 is not "exposed"?Other reqirement are: the USB hardware must "expose" directly the Atheros chipset, no one "softwlan" is working on this way...

Nook, I just want to upgrade that part of MT OS, which will not mess up my wireless (and keeping the usb wifi working).
Is it possible to do this by iploading all new packages in "files", except the wireless.ipk and rebooting?
Now I'm with 5.26, but need some of the functionality of 6.19, so is it possible to leave wireless.ipk with 5,26, and upgrade anything else with 6,19?
And will it work?
Can you share the settings in MT?Just downgraded, and it worked like a charm!
Now I can use it for wireless vacation hub
Thanks!
P.S.: On the first try I got connected @ 11Mbps ...
