I don't know if I was the first to ask for such a beast... but I asked about it close to 2 years ago.

I'd also like to see a model with integrated optics for single-mode, single-strand, and auto-sensing Bi-Directional auto-sensing 100/1000 support (the optics exist... Genexis has a CPE with it).

I'd also like to see 100Mbit SFP support on all MT products. Then again, with an affordable 24 port fiber switch, we could just light it all up GigE to 2011 for the CPE.

Another product I'd like to see is a super-tiny Routerboard with a single GigE/POE port switched to an SFP port. Very tiny, like as small as a deck of cards. This would allow fiber to be terminated outside while doing the penetration with Cat5/6, which is much more forgiving to work with. Really doesn't need to run ROS though, but it could be useful.

I think the best at this stage is to stack the CCR1016-12S-1Splus: http://routerboard.com/CCR1016-12S-1Splus
