RB2011 BGP

Tue Oct 14, 2014 4:23 am

Quick question. I have a x86 based core router that is having reboot issues...I think power supply. It is currently running 180 meg and bgp with my upstream provider. Would a RB2011 carry this load for a bit? No nat, or ques on this box.

It 'should'.

its not so much about throughput as much as it is about PPS also.

RB1100AHx2 would definitely do it, if you can get your hands on one of those.

When configuring, be sure to have connection tracking etc off so you dont get any resources used up.

Depending on the model of 2011 you have, if you take full table BGP feeds you may need to discard all but the default route to save on RAM.

Got a 2011ils-in...so only 64 ram. I have all connection tracking set to off. I see on average 10-15thousand packets through this interface per second at peak time.

What's your CPU usage like? Which ethernet ports are you using?
