RB912UAG + Ericsson f5521gw

Fri Apr 10, 2015 4:27 pm

Hello,
is there any support for this modem? After connecting it to the routerboard I do not see it in listed PCI devices.
According to some other users on this forum, this modem sometimes works (mainly on RB411).

Is there any extra driver available for download?

Thank You.

Hi,

I've got a couple of these working with RB912's. Make sure you have set the USB port to mini-pcie and not USB-A - the option is found in winbox under system / routerboard / usb.

The modem should then show up in the ports list and you can then configure a ppp session to use it as below:
ppp1.jpg
I'm using version R3B01 firmware. Some early versions of firmware are a bit flakey causing connection dropouts, R3B01 is reasonably stable although I have added a script to USB power reset the modem and routerboard if the link dies.

Other caveat is that some AT commands/responses are not recognised by routeros so don't panic if there are error messages when you use the info tab.

AT+CFUN=1 is mandatory in the init field to turn on the modems radio, otherwise it just sits there staring at you :).

Cheers

Jon

Thanks a lot for the information!
Is there any way to use 2 modems with this RB - one in PCI-E slot and one in USB?

miniPCIe slot for 802.11 or 3G (using 3G disables the USB port)
