RB953GS: Bad config, need to reset. But how?

Mon Jul 20, 2015 4:43 pm

Hi!

Messed up my configuration and now I can't connect to my RB953GS. I need to reset it to default settings, but how can I do this exactly?

The quick setup guide suggests: "RouterOS reset hole (While booting, and holding a metal object in this hole (for example a screwdriver) will cause RouterOS software to be reset to defaults". What hole is this exactly?

Could someone mark it on this picture for me?: http://img.routerboard.com/mimg/926_l.jpg

Cheers

Because using the reset hole is too often a hit-or-miss proposition, units released in the past three years or so have all come with a reset button that is much easier to use and more positive. In that photo, it's almost halfway down the right-hand edge of the board. Button instructions are here, and work pretty much the same way for all devices. Depending on how long you hold the button, you get configuration reset, CAPSMAN activation, or netinstall activation.
