Another Microtik first timer!

Thu Sep 24, 2015 11:43 am

Hi All
I am new to Microtik equipment and am extending a 100/20meg VDSL connection over 6.5Km with clear LOS and clear Fresnel zone. Would the Dynadish5 suit my needs assuming low interference (mostly 2.4Ghz but the odd 5Ghz fixed wireless client about) or would you recommend something heavier like the mANT30 PA with a Netmetal 5 or a Netbox or am I completely over the top here :D
Have looked at UB** stuff but seems like the Microtik stuff gives more tech for less cash..

Well. Actually in ideal conditions even sxt lite 5 should do the job. But to use the best available antennas is never bad.

Another Microtik first timer!

None can tell you as real world is always different. My experience is more than 200mbits with sxt lite 5 in 2x2 mimo 802.11n at much shorter distance. But go with dishes it will be much better even for future.

Thanks for the info Jarda. During my site survey, I noticed an Omnitik with a couple SXT's in very close proximity to where I will be errecting the mANT and the Netmetal. They look like recent installations am presuming 5.8ghz gear. What are my chances of avoiding interference?

Hi all
I will be setting up mANT 30 dishes & netmetals at a short distance (10 meters) for test bed set up before install is it best to have TX power at lowest value or is there a minimum value that you can input via Winbox?

I recommend you to use regulatory domain and set the antenna gain to really big values to get the biggest attenuation. You will need to try some vases and set the actual effect.

Thanks for that Jarda I guess all I am afraid of is setting them up first at home and they pumping out full power on startup I don't want to damage them :D

You can damage only radio without connected antenna. Otherwise there is no risk having devices nearby or whatever else.
