Sextant with Netmetal, NV2 speeds. Are they normal?

Sat Feb 27, 2016 5:23 pm

Hello!

A couple days ago we activated a NetMetal AC with three chains and 2W of TX power. It is paired with an dual-pol 13dBi omni antenna from another known vendor and working in 802.11n, NV2 mode. It currently has two clients which are our good old Sextants (the first generation with 10/100 ports).

On my client, which is 1.8 Km far, I see an SNR of 58dB with a signal of -61 but I am still getting a sync of 162 to 180 Mbps and a TCP speed of 65 - 80Mbps. The AP receives me with an SNR of 38 and a signal of -65. My upload though is higher, at 90 - 94 Mbps.

Should I be getting more than this download speed?

Hi ,
Since you are using OMNI antenna , this bandwidth rate is perfect , remember OMNI is 360 degrees , so never should compare with a 3 or 5 solid dish anetnna

Are you running full power 40Mhz?

Maybe try dropping the tx power a bit so something like 24dbm.

The speeds you are achieving the the omni is actually very good.
