NV2 Messing with PPTP/SSTP Tunnels

Thu Mar 03, 2016 12:01 pm

Good Day,

I have a interesting problem with some of my tunnels running over NV2.

When pinging the radio wlan ip the ping is fine, 20-50Ms give or take.

But when you start pinging to a ip routed over the tunnel the increase to 100ms + with a lot of jitter..

Most of these are used for voip to the clients main pbx.

I have experianced the same with EoIP tunnels.

When switching to NStreame or 802.11 the pings is 100%

I have tried different MTU's but the problem continues.

Any tips to solve or improve the issue.

Also, reason for NV2 is there is a lot of noise from other providers.

Maybe a VPLS tunnel instead?

I recall having read similar experiences: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... el#p404023

I think a better solution, specially as you're using NV2, would be using MPLS with EXP bit set for your VoIP traffic (VPLS tunnel).

Or try some udp based tunnel, l2tp for example.
