Why no one is making a licensed band equipment out of the MikroTik platform?

Fri Mar 04, 2016 4:57 pm

I always hear about unlicensed bands using the MikroTik platform, for example 17 GHz, 24 GHz and obviously the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz.

Is there any reason?

I would be interested to buy a 18 GHz solution

I remember that I saw some devices built on routerboards with frequency multipliers. Maybe you can search a bit...

I don't think Mikrotik has the personnel and resources to devote to getting these licensed bands certified in so many countries.

It was around a 1 year delay getting the hAP AC released, and the general belief here on the forums was that the delay was due to the FCC certification red tape.

I wonder why it is easier to ask here and employ other people to use Google instead making own direct Google search...

Thanks for your help but the link you attached refers to a 17 GHz that is an unlicensed band. I'm looking for an 18 GHz equipment and sincerely I didn't find anything based on Mikrotik.

Regards.

Has anyone tested the 17GHz equipments from MAVIradio http://maviradio.com/ on MikroTik. How does it perform and is it worth testing?

Why would you want to? We run some licensed and unlicensed links from other manufacturers - but we run them in transparent mode and just stick a Mikrotik for any routing below it. There are just too many country regulations to make it worthwhile for Mikrotik.

The MAVI 17GHz transverter, convert the 5GHz MikroTik RB922UAGS-5HPacD and RB912UAG-5HPnD to 17GHz which is a lot less congested, but does not know if it works. Has anybody tested it yet?
