USB DONGLE WITH MODEM E1750 NOT WORKING

Mon Aug 01, 2016 2:12 pm

I have tried to connect HSDPA USB dongle having modem E1750 on router board 951Ui2Hnd and router board RB951Ui2ND with IOS being 6.35.2 but the dongle behaves very abruptly some times both routers detect the dongle and some times they don't. When the routers detect the dongle some times it connects and acquire the desired IP and some times it does not connect at all it seems like the modem gets freezes.

Whereas when i connect HSUPA USB dongle having modem 206 it connects perfectly!

Could someone please help me with this issue??

Hi khurram48111,
I have a dongle like you (E1750). It is running on board RB751G-2HnD ROS version 6.36. The current configuration is near to default one:
[user@martin02gw] /interface ppp-client> print detail
Flags: X - disabled, R - running
 0  R name="ppp-out1" max-mtu=1500 max-mru=1500 mrru=disabled port=usb2
      data-channel=0 info-channel=0 apn="internet" pin="" user="" password=""
      profile=default phone="" dial-command="ATDT" modem-init=""
      null-modem=no dial-on-demand=no add-default-route=yes
      default-route-distance=100 use-peer-dns=yes keepalive-timeout=30
      allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2
[user@martin02gw] /interface ppp-client> export
# aug/04/2016 11:44:14 by RouterOS 6.36
# software id = xxxx-xxxx
#
/interface ppp-client
add apn=internet default-route-distance=100 dial-on-demand=no disabled=no \
    name=ppp-out1 port=usb2
I am setting default-route-distance=100 because dongle is acting as my backup uplink to the Internet. And port=usb2 has been set automatically, so you can have something else there.

I would suggest you to check firmware revision of your dongle. Old firmware may have bugs causing the problem. This is how it looks for my dongle:
[user@martin02gw] > /interface ppp-client info ppp-out1
       modem-status: ready
         pin-status: no password required
      functionality: full
       manufacturer: huawei
              model: E1750
           revision: 11.126.08.01.00
      serial-number: 35xxxxxxxxxxx99
   current-operator: 26201 (cellid unknown)
  access-technology: 3G
     signal-strengh: -81 dBm
   frame-error-rate: n/a
