RB912 Antennas needed if wlan disabled ?

Wed Oct 05, 2016 4:39 pm

Hi All,

I want to use the RB912 with LTE card instead of our current setup of a RB411U with LTE card. The only issue is the fact that the built in wlan card on the RB912 needs to have antennas connected to prevent damage to itself.

My question is: if the wlan interface is disables in routeros, do I still need to have antennas connected to prevent damage ?

Thanks,
Travis

When in doubt, and for neat appearance, install terminators.

Install antennas on both chains, because on default are both chains enabled. Then disable both chains a you can use RB912 without antennas

My suggestion: Keep terminators permanent on the device. If for some reason, you need to rest your device to default, or netinstall or whatever, you will never damage the wlan card which will be activated by default setting or similar....
