Detecting and tracking a wireless attack

Sun Oct 09, 2016 12:26 am

Hi everyone

Is there any way of logging wireless MAC addresses + Power received that are seen via an OmniTik and dump them into a database? We have an unknown 3rd party causing major problems on our network by what looks like them broadcasting garbage into the frequency that we use for wireless links. When this happens we suffer elevated pings and dropped packets which is hitting VoIP traffic hard. If we move frequency the link works fine for up to 10-15 minutes, then the problem re-occurs. I have another vendors equipment on one roof that has a spectrum analyser feature and that shows a 10mhz wide sprite appearing at the same time as the interference events happen. My idea is to place an extra OmniTik on each base station and use that to triangulate the rough position of the source of interference. Any advice would be welcome if anyone knows how to do this or has any other ideas on fixing this problem

Thanks in advance

Jon
