Metal 52 ac station / RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN client (slow speed)

Sat Jan 21, 2017 1:59 pm

Hello.

I hope someone can explain this to me.

So my metal 52 ac is conected to my modem 100/8 Mbps, i get those speeds with wifi on my laptop for example.

I bought a RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN to use it as client in my basement and pushed the connection throug the 10 ports all works (ma friend come over so they can connect :) )

The problem is the speed im getting with my old USB TP-LINK wn822 at this moment i get 23-25 Mbps snr -78,80 with the RB2011 snr -71,73 i get 6-9 Mbps.
I see the RB2011 tx is switching to 20Mhz channel often but wn822 remains 40, i have the width 20/40 Ce on both Mikrotiks and no bandwith restriction on either side and on no port.
both are RouterOS 6.38.1
station. 192.168.88.1 /24 static IP: for client 192.168.88.2
client: wifi 192.168.88.2 local: 192.168.88.1 /24

Is the RB2011 so weak compared to the wn822 ? what am i missing?

If anyone can help ill be very gratefull.

Have a nice day

Had a similar experience with poor wireless performance.

I was running with Frequency set to Auto, and Width set to 20/40 Ce, and there's quite a bit of wireless congestion in my area (neighborhood).

Using my phone and a WiFi Analyzer app, I saw the Tik was picking channel 3 + 5, with 40 Mhz width. These channels happened to be pretty congested, so after some tinkering I finally set the Width to be just 20 Mhz, the Tik moved over to Channel 8 automatically, and my wireless performance went up quite a bit.

It's also been said that using a Short Preamble is preferable if you can. I initially had mine set to using both, but now have it set for short only. Unsure if this impacted my performance any, but I'm rather certain the less congested, narrower channel selection had the largest impact.
