Re: 3 antenas on RB433, how to setup WDS?

Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:46 pm

Hello

I have 3 antenas in bridge mode and a running hotspot (rb433).
Now do i need to put the antenas in WDS mode (if they are already in the bridge mode)?
And do i need to choose "dynamic" WDS?

Thanks

With all three radios in the same box, I don't think you want to set them all to the same frequency in order to use WDS. If the radios are bridged, and the DHCP server and hotspot are serving the bridge interface, just set them to three different channels.

Good thanks for help.

I will do it without the WDS then.

Because i still don't understand when to use WDS and when not to use it..

Re: 3 antenas on RB433, how to setup WDS?

I am trying to place 2 Sector on RB433, but its not working, my clients are not able to connect to the WiFi

Both the Sector have a physical distance of Max 1 Meter.

This is my current config.

1. Bridge1 with eth1+wlan1+wlan2
2. Both the radio are on ap-bridge, same SSID, different frequency (2412 and 2437)

Still i am not able to connect to the wireless.

any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance.

Who/what is serving DHCP to the clients? (If you are bridging the radios and eth1, the wireless clients will typically be on the same subnet as eth1.)

On the other hand, if you are setting up a hotspot, you don't want to include eth1 in the bridge.

Thanks for the reply.

For testing I tried with 2 different configurations

1. DHCP on bridge1

2. Separate rb450G for serving DHCP and hotspot and connected to rb433 on eth1

rb433

bridge1 : 192.168.10.2/24

rb450g

eth2 : 192.168.10.1/24
eth1 : 192.168.1.15 -> connected to the local network

thanks

I just did a complete reset and tried to configure again, still no luck

This is my configuration

/interface bridge add

/interface wireless set wlan1 mode=ap-bridge band=2ghz-b/g channel-width=2
0mhz ssid=KI wds-mode=dynamic wds-default-bridge=bridge1

/interface wireless set wlan2 mode=ap-bridge band=2ghz-b/g channel-width=2
0mhz ssid=KI wds-mode=dynamic wds-default-bridge=bridge1

/interface wireless enable wlan1
/interface wireless enable wlan2

/interface bridge port add interface=wlan1
/interface bridge port add interface=wlan2

/ip address add interface=bridge1 address=192.168.10.1/24

/ip dhcp-server setup ;
Select interface to run DHCP server on

dhcp server interface: bridge1
Select network for DHCP addresses

dhcp address space: 192.168.10.0/24
Select gateway for given network

gateway for dhcp network: 192.168.10.1
Select pool of ip addresses given out by DHCP server

addresses to give out: 192.168.10.2-192.168.10.254
Select DNS servers

dns servers: 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4
Select lease time

lease time: 3d

/ip firewall nat add chain=srcnat out-interface=ether1 action=masquerade

Still no DHCP, i am not able to connect.

thanks in advance
