hotspot + account manager

Mon Feb 27, 2012 11:48 pm

I've setup an rb433 by following this page: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Mana ... ot_Example

The problem I have is that when attempting to log in via wifi, I get the error:
hotspot info debug wifitest (192.168.30.99): trying to login by http-chap
hotspot info debug wifitest (192.168.30.99): login failed: no valid profile found

"no valid profile found" is the error that appears on the login page.

Is that referring to the lack of a user profile or server profile?

I've created profiles in the /userman page

Any help is appreciated

I just set this up today and the problem I found was that my Radius + Usermanager wasn't set up correctly. In addition, be sure that you have a Profile set up and defined under the User you are trying to create and log into. Good luck!

even attempting to follow this guide i get no joy:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Manager/Hotspot_Example

also:
/ tool user-manager router add subscriber=MikroTik ip-address=x.x.x.x shared-secret=123456

... isn't valid:
[admin@MikroTik] > /tool user-manager router add
coa-port copy-from log shared-secret customer
comment disabled name use-coa ip-address

EDIT: above is covered in that page: user customer instead of subscriber

and why does the router keep the user data when performing a factory reset?

using v5.14

getting closer to sorting this, i think.

I got a different error:
"access denied at this time" and couldn't for the life of me figure out what was causing that (check time zone, date/time etc - am using ntp and time is correct). I then trashed both the test user and the profile, created a new test user and got back to the error "no valid profile found" so the /userman page is working, just got to create a working profile :/

also, how do you revoke devices? I've removed the user but it wont bring up the login page. Cookies are turned off.

:(

more issues ... still haven't found how to create a valid profile. notice that when adding a restriction, old restrictions appear, such as one with a date/time range that i'd set previously and deleted but there are no limitations on it - only the date/time range. clicking to save the profile doesn't bring up the save success message unless something is clicked inside the form first.

So in trying to resolve the above I've tried to reset the hotspot and ended up with the login page showing a 404 error. tried resetting html but end up with "html reset failed - copy failed (6)" but all the html files appear listed from the Files function in winbox.

summary:

getting "html reset failed - copy failed (6)" error after attempting to reset the html
problems configuring user profiles
resetting router to factory doesnt remove userman configuration.

"access denied at this time" - still getting this and I can't for the life of me resolve it. I believe this is related to the user profile somehow but even after removing users and profiles and adding them from scratch I can't get past this error when tying to connect to the hotspot.

using 5.14

I had same problem (about error "access denied at this time" ), what work for me was set user-manager router "Time Zone", for example change to "+07:00". This "Time Zone" parameter is out of sync with the router NTP. Sorry for my english.

I had the same problem: 'no valid profile'.

I had to make a profile in usermanager, than make sure the user (the one you want to log in on captive portal) is linked to a profile.

That did it for me!
