The issue is with physical mounting of the devices, or with configuration? For configuration, just open the IP in your web browser, and choose P2P bridge in Quickset.

As with mounting, look for signal level in quickset, and align the antenna until signal is good. Watch this video guide:

SXT has built in antenna. If you plan to make SXT -> SXT link, what external antennas are you talking about?

Yes, you can. And you don't need any grid antennas, just two SXT units. SXT units can link even up to 10Km if conditions are very good, without any additional equipment.

sxt lite only gave me 12 Mbps throughtput for 1.5 kms under signal -60.
i even tried with recommended config, in bridge & station bridge mode.
compare to airgrid m5 25 dbm gave me 80 Mbps throughput.

Signal is not the only variable that you must check. Please post your full config from both sides, and also registration table output from both sides. At this distance, you should be able to get around 100Mbit

For <500 m distance p2p link (clear LOS) with SXT which frequency should be used for optimal bandwidth?
Also what is the diameter for the pole on which the sxt will be mounted?

in ideal conditions, any SXT can (except possibly the SXT SA, because it has different antenna).

I have 160mbps TCp with 2xSXT lite and 1.3km so you have an problem. Airgrids are junk, I don't buy them anymore. 30-40% will not survive more than 2-3 years.
