Just want any input regarding Point to point

Tue Jan 07, 2014 10:31 am

I am new to mikrotik and had basic knowledge for point to point connection.
I am planning to use Sextant G 5 for point to point connection between two sites (approx. 1KM apart).
the 1st site have 10 IP CCTV Camera with 5mp resolutions. 10 Handpunch for Time Attendance connected also thru IP.
the 2nd site is where my servers are. 1 server for CCTV and 1 server TAS. it has also 6 hand punch.
there is a third site with 1 hand punch only. this should be connected thru wireless also.

does the Sextant G 5 able to support the bandwidth of site1 to site2?

any suggestion please..

thank you.

You should be fine as long as you have a good clear LOS.

That guide has you using 802.11. I would recommend using NV2 and also learning the real wireless menus as quickset does not give you all of the options. If you want easy and limited with no options you should go with ubnt.

There is not so much speed difference between 802.11 and nv2
Have that tested with 5 GHz groove

Please explain
NV2 is based on TDMA which improves media usage or improves throughput
basically its build for p2mp

so if u make indoor (room test) with 1 or 2 connection u may have almost same throughput as 802.11 protocol (because nature of TDMA), but u can try testing with 10-20 connections or simple make UDP test

Try this configuration: http://www.wirelessinfo.be/index.php/mi ... /omnitikpp

This is with Nv2 protocol settings
