Rb951g-2hnd: there's a limit?

Mon Jan 27, 2014 3:50 am

I've searched quite a lot over here and didnt found any topic about it.

Here's the scene: i'm installing a network for internet porposes in a condo and i just got five Rb951g-2hnd access-point. Then, something came to my mind: i already have the best equipment, but what's the best way to make my wifi work without any interference?

so far, my ADSL provider gives me signal in a modem+router, then one CAT.5e delivers WAN in a switch (didnt decide which one, probably a DSG-1008D Dlink, since no mikrotik switches aren't avaiable at my region) and, from the switch, i have the 4 Rb951g connected also through cat.5e.

so, that been said, i ask:
1) there's a limit of multiple Rb951g connected in the same switch?
2) what is the best config for this network to avoid interference and improve the signal/data traffic quality?

Cheers and tks for the help

Basically you can mikrotiks connect as many as you wish to the switch.
What will you do, add a second accesspoint or is there still no access point.
Want you multiple access points places

I see... actually i'm trying to boost the signal and i took the first step (more access points), but there's one floor that i can't reach with cables, so i really need to improve signal so the network can be seen in this last floor.

1) What about antenna gain? How do i increase power in RouterOS v5.25?
2) As far as i know, there's 2 antennas in Rb951g. There's any way to separate Tx and Rx to each antenna? Does it improve signal and better reception.?

Tks1

You can power up the power from your accesspoint but that is useless
The signal from the access point reached your laptop but the signal from your laptop will not reach the access point and this is the problem.
There is no good communication between laptop and accesspoint.
Place the access point as close as possible to the ceiling and try different places.
Maybe one powerline a solution offer and connect than the mikrotik on it.

Mikrotik configuration

SSID: the same of your existing accesspoint
Channel: another channel than your existing accesspoint
