Airport interference

Tue Apr 01, 2014 11:09 pm

Hi

A client requested a quote for an access point to cover his beach

I proposed two SXTs, a 2.4GHz Lite 2, and a 5GHz SA

But a competitor, having tested his Ruckus AP on the beach found
that there was interference in the radio signal. The signal would 'drop'
for a few seconds and then return, repeatedly.

The airport is visible from across the bay and the airport tower aswell.

I have ordered a couple of SXTs to test them out, so that I can set
my client's mind to rest.

Could the proximity of the airport be sufficient to disrupt the wifi radio
signal ? If so, are both bands susceptible to this interference ? Is it the
airport tower or the planes themselves which are at the origin of such
interference ?

thanks
yann

Airport have 5.xGHz RADAR [can be till 1000W pulse....] and from 1 to 2 GHz transponder which disrupt all neighbor signals :( :( :(

Thanks for your response Rextended

Is there any solution to avoid this interference ?

The current approach is to position the APs on top of the building facing the sea
What if I place my AP at the water's edge and point it inwards i.e. towards land
would that reduce the effect of this pulse interference ?

I have some problems on various locations near the port.

The solution I have adopted are dual polarization panels V + V 90° 2,4Ghz (RB433AH + 2 x R52Hn) 2 for pole high inclination like "\°|°/" where "|" are the pole + SXT 5HnD from pole to pole the "°".....

Ok, is like as joke "\°|°/" but is casual...

We don't need to setup point to point links

We just want to provide the clients on the beach with dual band access to the Internet

I was hoping to use a couple of SXTs : a 2.4GHz Lite 2 and a 5GHz SA (90°)

Would DFS help at all in coping with the radar interference ?

Surely, also you must activate radar detection to avoid interferences with airport..................
