Management-protection failure

Mon Apr 07, 2014 5:43 pm

I'm taking a bug reported in another thread and breaking it out into its own thread, so that it doesn't get lost.

I have several RBs as wireless backhaul servers (ROS 6.7). Typically, I set up both ends as bridge or ap-bridge, using wds-mode=dynamic-mesh, and it works flawlessly.

There is one link that has a habit of failing intermittently, averaging once or twice day, for a half-hour to an hour at a time. During this time, the radios continually associate and then time out. The log shows:
10:03:15 wireless, info 00:0C:42:xx:xx:5A@wlan1-TLT: connected, is AP, wants WDS
10:04:11 wireless,info 00:0C:42:xx:xx:5A@wlan1-TLT: disconnected, management-protection failure
10:04:15 wireless, info 00:0C:42:xx:xx:5A@wlan1-TLT: connected, is AP, wants WDS
10:05:11 wireless,info 00:0C:42:xx:xx:5A@wlan1-TLT: disconnected, management-protection failure
10:05:15 wireless, info 00:0C:42:xx:xx:5A@wlan1-TLT: connected, is AP, wants WDS
10:06:11 wireless,info 00:0C:42:xx:xx:5A@wlan1-TLT: disconnected, management-protection failure
The rest of the time, it associates immediately and forms a link that could be rock-solid for days. Signal is consistently between -70 and -75dBi, S:N 35-40, whether the link is working or not.

None of the suggestions in the aforementioned thread have worked. I have seen & reported similar issues with the use of WDS in ap-bridge to ap-bridge links (e.g., the packet-storm problem introduced in 5.x and finally resolved in 5.18), so I'm wondering if this could be a similar situation.

Put on the forum both devices "/interface wireless export compact" output, without cut anything, except passwords (replace with *, do not cut, for not misunderstand if are set or not)
