Interference from GSM sector antennas

Mon Apr 14, 2014 11:03 am

Hi

I'd like to install a 5GHz sector antenna on the roof
of a hotel, as one end of a 6km point to point link.

Unfortunately there is already a mast with a trio of
GSM sector antennas on the this same roof.

Will this cause any interference ? I shouldn't think
so because we won't be on the same band.

Thanks
yann

We do sometimes have problems with GSM towers and powerfull FM stations ...

do not put your antenna's in front of the cellular antennas ....

2.4 is a problem with GSM towers, evan at 100 meters distance . 5 ghz only if you are realy close <5 meters

With FM towers we sometimes need to use Toughcable pro, to reduce RF interference on cables.
I did even had once a melted cable du to RF power from a FM station, the Ferrites we put on the cable to block RF melted into the cable.
