High latency with R52N AP and Nanostation Clients

Tue Apr 22, 2014 7:35 pm

Hi, and sorry for my bad English.

I'm breaking my head with this problem. I have one AP RB433 + R52Hn card. RouterOs Version is 6.0x. Connect to this AP there is a Nanostatio Loco M2 with the Last AirOs version (updated today, sorry dont remember the exact version). I'm working on 2,4 ghz, and using a free channel of 20 mhz

The Nano is configured Like This:

station with transparent WDS checked, bridge mode, b/g/n mode, and the MAC of the AP on the preferred field.

The AP is configurated by factory default, and only:

- mode B/G/N (I've probed only G mode too with the same results)
- No encription
- Mode AP bridge
- 20 Mhz
- Regulatory domain, spain
- WDS dynamic (I've probed Static and puting the client MAC on WDS entry with the same results)

The signal is -55db aprox, is excellent, and CCQ is over 80%. About 200 meters and clear Line of Sight.

The benchmark is poor, and the latency fluctuate into 1000ms and 4000ms!. There's a lot of packets lost.

But, oh surprise, occurs that if I uncheck the "WDS transparent" on Nanostation, the conection is clear and peferct.

Anybody has experienced some similar ? where have I gone wrong ?

Best Regards

You have nothing do wrong but Mikrotik and UBNT work not good together.
Thats all. Work without WDS function

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that there is a HotSpot on the bottom of the net. You must imagine the poblem without WDS :-(

Thanks!

Same problem here with v5.25 AP and 5.5.4 Nanobridge client.

The exact same config works fine @ 5GHz.

Worse connections using MT hardware work great. UBNT and MT don't work well together any more.

edit: AirOS 5.3.5 seems to work fine in the same situation, if that is an option for you.

My Nanobridge are the newer model that cannot take the older 5.3.5 firmware without resetting to defaults and reconfiguring.

I'm just going to replace the link with a dedicated ptp shot.

This might not last, but I'd better post it before I forget.

I had a couple of clients I was preparing to upgrade/swap out equipment on. Signal hasn't changed, but they've lost connectivity.

I disabled Adaptive Noise Immunity and their signal actually got worse, but they went from dropping packets like mad tx to the tower to high 90% CCQ both directions.

Everything is running 5.25 or 5.26 except for one tower. Anything later than 5.17 won't let a couple of UBNT clients connect. The first AP I disabled noise immunity was 5.17, but the performance improvements are on the other towers as well.
