Questions about rb912uag series

Tue May 20, 2014 2:11 am

Hi guys!

rb912uag series

There is no clear answer in specs to the topic. I wanna use usb 3g dongle and some high-power mini-pcie wifi card (like R11e-5HnD) at the same time on this board.
I know that if I use mini-pcie slot for 3g card there will be no way to bring up usb port, but what about 3g usb with mini pci-e Wifi instead ?

Could 24v 0.8A deal with it? (included adapter of basebox2)

And what about 802.11ac support for this board? It has high-speed mini-pcie (instead of old minipci) that I hopecould cope with 802.11ac throughput.

thanks.

yes, you can put a wifi card (like R11e) in the mini-pcie slot and connect a 3g usb modem to the usb port.
Try to calculate how much power each component is using and check if the power supply will handle that.

found this on wiki and got confused :(
RB912 USB port type

RB912 series have USB port and miniPCIe slot. Due to hardware restrictions it is possible to use only one at the time.

Available properties:

type (USB-type-A | mini-PCIe; Default: "USB-type-A") - Type of enabled port.
truth is still out there :(

is there any real 912-series users to test it ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can only use one of these for USB. Remember that miniPCIe has USB pins, which are mainly used for 3G cards in the miniPCIe slot.

So, if you have a miniPCIe card that does not require USB (most (all?) wifi cards) you can use both USB and miniPCIe at the same time.
