802.11ac tests results and opinions

Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:28 pm

Dear friend,

I open this topic to discuss with yourselves about 802.11ac standard on Mikrotik.

I'm waiting in about 3 estimated weeks my Compex 802.11ac QC 9882 chipset mini-pciExpress cards. Then I will install them into 2 912 OUT boards connected to Mikrotik MAnt antenna and will start the test on 2 - 4 - 6 - 12 km fresnel free links using several data rates in colocated environment 802.11a - 802.11n

Then I will post result.

Please any doing 802.11ac test give results

Regards

It will be hard to do, because QCA9882 is 2x2 only :D

There should be new product from mikrotik : netbox

http://www.interprojekt.com.pl/mikrotik ... -1624.html

Two of these with mAnt Antenna and Flexguide should be the ideal.

Monday I'll ask availability date

My mistake, I pulled the datasheet for the card and it is QCA9880 v2 3x3

I finally got around to setting this up. rb912uag-2HPnD with Compex WLE900VX minipci-e. Either this card is not "fully" supported or I have more configuring to do. Running btest client from windows 8 laptop through rb912 to CCR1009. It is strange that rx rate is locked at 6Mps.

Only 215Mbps with 80Mhz bandwidth? It's not a MIMO antenna I see, right?

Did you connect the 5V pin on the Card?

:?
"5V (compulsory and external)"
"Customers have to connect a 5V power supply to the pin on WLE600V5-23"]

We are talking about WLE900VX - there isn't such PIN there.

Update: new drivers for wlan driver on laptop, now connects a little faster. Maybe next release of routeros will allow for changing HT80 tx power and maybe VHT tab in winbox?

Wow!
What card is it? Is an SXT/NetBox? How much distance? How much signal?

Can you post "Status" section? Is it a MIMO? 80MHz?

We are still durning tests now. We have 2xRB912 + 2xMiniPciEx. Now we are waiting for NetBox, but they will come after the weekend.
Cards are from Compex, and it works like a charm. Devices are working with MIMO 2x3 (2xTX 3xRX). Signals about 55-60dB.

More results with picture I will put here later.

I really want to know if 802.11ac give better results on PtMP configuration with 3x3 MIMO antennas in real life production environment.

I've read old post regarding some crashes, disconnection and other problems related probably to bugs, but I have notread some new tests in recent months.

Is there any users has done some real test?
