WISP solution for RB2011UiAS-RM

Fri Sep 05, 2014 9:49 pm

Please help me to find best WiFi (Mikrotik) solution to extend my RB2011UiAS-RM router dedicated for rack.
I have router and switch mounted in rack in one corner of my house.

I have wired Gb network but I have to build wireless network managed from RB2011UiAS-RM Wireless menu (WebFig6.7).
Which hardware will be the best to build WISP managed from Mikrotik Webfig.

It could be whatever device with appropriate wifi card/built in chip and level 4 license. For management from one place you can use caps feature or just set local ap bridge.

Can you give me any examples of this AP with N or AC WiFi ?
The best will be without any supply devices and supply them directly from LAN PoE.

mAP or RB951G-2HnD for example. Maybe something else. Depending on your needs that you have not described.

Ok, right. I will describe my needs. I would like have same class network in my wired network and my wireless.
Might be dual band WiFi (2,5 and 5 GHz), LAN connection based from my LAN sockets, maybe is possible to have something similar f.e. http://www.cyberbajt.pl/download/ubiqui ... way_DS.pdf
The best will be to have supply from PoE, instead to have additional supplies. Everything designed for internal home use.
If possible managed from my MikroTik Webfig panel.

Ok. So what do you have against mAP above that it is not 5GHz capable? Or against the 951 which is quite better as it has dual chain wifi and gigabit Ethernet?

Sorry for this exact frequency requirements. This is not so important.
Coverage and maximum transfer is in this case most important.

I need to write it again. You did not described your situation. In which environment and for which purposes (number, type, distance of clients) it will be used? Or change the 2011 for 2hnd version it has good and fast wifi...

Number of WiFi clients is up to 5-10 (Tablets, Phones, TV), but same time work usually 3-5 devices.
Distance is not so long, just standard home environment up to 10-15 m and thru one or two walls (first and second floor).
My network center is in one corner of the home so is difficult to have full range from this point.
My living room is on opposite corner of the house, that is the reason why I don't use router with build in WiFi.
I think that two AP will cover all rooms (one first floor, and second ground floor).
As I described before I need same network for whole home f.e. 192.168.200.X same in wired and wireless network.
I'm looking for solution just to plug in the wall LAN socket without power supply (only PoE).
The best will be WiFi AC but N is also acceptable ;-)

Fine. Then RB951G 2hnd would be the choice. Or to change 2011 to 2hnd version. Less devices means less problems.
