Centralized PPPOE server setup

Thu Sep 11, 2014 8:15 pm

I run a WISP and have been using APs(Omnitiks) as PPPOE server for the clients that connect to the AP. However I am changing the setup to have one centralized PPPOE server on the network and not have individual APs being PPPOE servers.

My Idea is to have SXTs register on the Omnitik but get IPs from the centralised PPPOE servers. Itried to set the AP as a bridge and use bridged point to point links back to the PPPOE server (on CCR). My problem is the clients are not getting any IP addresses with this set up.

I there a way of setting up this setup such that the Omnitik is connected to a CCR which acts as the PPPOE sever and it assigns IPs to the SXTs which registers on the Omnitik.

Hi,
I have a centralized PPPOE server.
You can do it with vpls.
CCR(PPPOE Server) bridge vpls -------- SXT ( Bridge wireless - vpls)

With this setup clients will see the pppoe session, and you can get all the routes centralized in one CCR.
For the vpls sessions you will need BGP or OSPF, behind the CCR and the SXT.
