limiting clients based on distance or signal strength?

Fri Oct 24, 2014 9:07 pm

Hey,

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I'm trying to setup a wireless AP using a RB951-2n to only allow connections within a particular room. I want that users from outside the room not be able to connect to that particular AP. Is this possible?

You can allow only clients with high signal and disconnect all that fall below defined level. But they can keep trying to connect again...

Connecting again is not the issue, as long as they aren't allowed to connect after a certain dbi, could you point me to how I could go about accomplishing this?

Thank you for your help

On "Access List" add an AP Access Rule adjusting the Signal Strength Range.

Don't forget to Uncheck "Default Authantication" on wlan interface.

Check property "signal-range" here: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:In ... Properties.
