Can anyone explain how RSTP functions in a bridged network with station-bridged wireless devices?

It seems like a root bridge is elected behind each station-bridged segment of the network... Is that normal operation? Is station-bridge truly transparently bridging? How does this effect RSTP's ability to elect a root bridge?
