How to connect to a WiFi with an external password?

Wed Nov 05, 2014 5:02 am

Just bought the router as well as the Groove and it seems to be working perfectly except for the fact that when connecting to a WiFi with an external password, it cannot open the page to enter the password.
For clarification, when joining a network connection at a marina we are staying at for the night, instead of entering a password in the network control panel of the computer itself, it pulls up a Google Chrome browser with their website which then says Username:_________ & Password:________

Without using the router and the Groove, after entering username & password, the computer can connect to the network and be used normally. The external password setup seems to be the only problem.

Hope I explained the situation clear enough and hope to get an answer soon. Thank you in advance!

You are mixing two different things. Wifi security settings and hotspot function. The popup user and password request is hotspot user authentication and has no relation to how are you connected - if by wifi or wire.

And now. What is your question?

It let's us connect to the network yet has no capabilities of internet since it requires the authentication.

My question is: How do you connect to a WiFi with these popup authentications? The Groove doesn't seem to pull the authentication page up.
