RB2011UiAS-2HnD wireless speed limit

Wed Nov 05, 2014 7:24 pm

Hi

I am testing a 60Mbit internet connection via a wireless connection over a RB2011UiAS-2HnD but I am not getting more than 40Mbit. When testing with a cable the speed goes up to 60Mbit but via wireless it is like limited even sitting just next to it. I have 3 of these routers and the issue is on all. I tried several wireless settings and I have the latest OS.

Please Help.

Did you enable both chains? What are the TX/RX rates if you look into the registration table? Is the spectrum free at the location? Did you try to use different channels?

Thanks for your reply :)

Both chains are enabled.
On the Tx power tab it shows up to 54Mbps
Tx\Rx rate in traffic goes up during the speed test exactly at the rate of the speed test result. The rest of the time it is idle (I am the only connection to it)
Tried several different channels and also changed place/location. It makes no difference!

Have you set 40mhz wide channel and 802.11n? If not, set it.

20Mhz dual chain channel should be enough to get 60Mbps throughput however it seems you are using either 2GHz-only-G or your client is not 802.11n dual chain. Make sure your client has 802.11n wifi card and 2GHz N is enabled on the AP. If the client is single chain only you can try to increase channel width to 20/40MHz HT below or above, but you need to have clear spectrum for this.

Also check the wireless registration table for tx/rx rates, not the tx power rates :)

For example you should see 130Mbps/130Mbps for dual chain 802.11n client, 65Mbps/65Mbps for single chain N client, both with 20MHz channel width. For 40MHz the tx/rx rates should be 300Mbps/300Mbps dual chain or 150Mbps/150Mbps single chain

Thanks for the replies Guys :)
Mainly setting it up with 802.11n and 20/40MHz HT above fixed the issue but I had a limitation from the laptop I was testing from which wasted my time

Thank you very much! :D
